The extra double zero almost doubles the edge for no benefit to the player. If both wheels are on offer, the single-zero table is the better deal every time. On French rules, La Partage returns half of an even-money bet when the ball lands on zero, which halves the edge on red/black, odd/even and high/low.

Notice that on a single-zero wheel every bet carries the same 2.70% edge. Choosing between a straight-up number and red is a choice about how bumpy you want the ride to be, not about better value.
Do roulette systems work?
No. Martingale, where you double after every loss, feels safe until a run of losses hits the table maximum or your budget, which happens sooner than people expect. Ten losses in a row on an even-money bet needs a stake 1,024 times your starting chip. Systems change the shape of your results, never the average. Play roulette for the spin, not for a plan to beat it.
